Editorial Standards

HobbyWaves covers a market where money and hype move fast. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.

Sourcing

Every story links to its primary sources. We name the outlet, auction house, manufacturer or marketplace behind a claim, and we distinguish confirmed reporting from rumor and from community speculation.

Verification

  • Sale prices are cited to the auction record or marketplace listing.
  • Release dates come from manufacturer channels, not aggregator guesswork.
  • Grading and population claims are attributed to the grading company's own data.
  • Social chatter is labeled as sentiment, never presented as confirmed news.

Relevance

We publish only what has a direct connection to the hobby — cards, comics as collectibles, grading, auctions, coins, sealed and retro games, and memorabilia. General entertainment or sports-recap news is filtered out before it reaches the front page.

Automation disclosure

We use software to monitor feeds, releases and social signals so nothing is missed. Automated drafts are subject to editorial review, and a named editor is responsible for every story that publishes. We do not publish machine-written opinion or fabricated quotes.

Independence

Sponsors and affiliate partners have no input into coverage, timing or framing. All commercial placements are labeled. See our ethics policy.

Corrections

We fix errors quickly and in public. Read our corrections policy or report an error through the contact form.
